The Opportunity
The Retail Supervisor will be fully responsible for the operational, efficient, effective, and profitable performance of the Solomon Islands Book Centre and Coffee Shop, including managing supplier relationships and reseller vendor agreements within the delegated authority of the Retail Supervisor based at the Solomon Islands Campus. The role holder will have delegated responsibility for product management, customer service excellence, and financial returns, working closely with their team to achieve business objectives. The incumbent will contribute to Commercial management meetings to identify revenue-generation and cost-saving opportunities, while maintaining high standards of shop layout, point-of-sale presentation, and marketing initiatives. The position will also be responsible for driving incremental profit through additional retail opportunities as they arise, including online sales. In addition, the Supervisor will oversee inventory procurement, estimate course materials for both school-based and on-campus requirements, and manage other retail items sourced from Laucala Campus or as directed by the Commercial Retail Manager, ensuring delivery of the commercial strategy aligned with the USP Strategic Plan.
The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Management and relevant cognate discipline with two (2) years subsequent relevant experience; or
- Completion of a diploma in relevant discipline and four (4) years subsequent relevant work experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Experience in a progressively supervisorial role, preferably in a University setting.
- Experience in training, supervising and assessing performance of staff.
- Experience in maintaining inventory management systems, retail management systems and point of sale systems.
- Proficiency in financial and inventory management software and MS Office products.
- Ability to understand agreements, policy, guidelines and other regulatory frameworks.
- Valid driver’s license for inter-campus travel.

The position is available for a term of 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement
Salary Range
SBD129,539 to SBD139,735 per annum
