The Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF) is a new research centre, initially funded by the Aotearoa New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (ANZMFAT) to ensure overall institutional climate finance, and resilience knowledge and research collaboration and capabilities.
The Project Manager CSF is a senior project manager that will manage the consolidation of 5 centres and institutes to set up the CSF. There will be significant change management responsibilities required, from ensuring proper communications plans to engaging with key stakeholders and development of new institute and work plans. This role will manage the change journey with all stakeholders involved as the CSF organically transforms. The position holder will be reporting to a Steering Committee (made up of SMT members and Heads of Sections) on key phases of the project. The position holder will also be liaising with the donors on planning, budget and reporting, and on some occasions represent the University in different capacities to external stakeholders with relation to CSF.
The role will provide high-level administrative and strategic support to the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF) and the CSF Management Committee in two folds:
1. Operationalizing the CSF with budget preparation, financial monitoring and reporting, audit compliance, procurement and efficient administration through the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation (DVCRI) . The key primary focus of this role is to ensure the smooth and efficient setup of the CSF in strict adherence to the grant agreement signed between MFAT and USP to establish the CSF. This means that the position will work very closely with the Contract Manager and internal stakeholders.
2. Providing day-to-day high level and strategic administrative support to the Director CSF in the establishment of the Center, securing ongoing funding and timely report preparation of CSF activities against the MFAT Grant Agreement.
The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A Masters level qualification from development, project management, administration, finance or a related discipline;
- 10 years minimum experience in the management of development projects, working with donors, regional/international organizations and government agencies with proven management expertise preferably in a tertiary institution or comparable multi-cultural public sector.
- Research and programme management knowledge and skills are essential.
- Demonstrated programme leadership skills
- Previous experience/familiarity in managing complex projects with regional and/or international organization's in project management/managing large scale donor projects;
- Experience with multi-stakeholders’ participatory approaches;
- Experience in working with and/or supervising staff, and providing a high degree of support to executive leadership
- Experience in team-based programme management;
- Experience in carrying out multiple activities within tight deadlines;
- Self-motivated, confident, decisive and innovative.

The position is available for a term of three (3) years and may be renewed based on funding availability.

Salary Range
- FJ $89,505 to $109,648 per annum.
