The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an engaging and dynamic individual to join the University of the South Pacific (USP) and oversee the management and implementation of scholarship programmes.

Leading a student centric team, the Manager Regional Scholarship Team (ReST) is responsible for quality services and support for students on scholarships awarded by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).

The appointee is expected to liaise closely with the two respective Development Partners in delivering the objectives of their contractual arrangements with USP, including developing the ReST Annual Work Plan and ensuring that sponsored students successfully complete their programmes of studies within the award timeframes. The Manager ReST is expected to exercise strong financial management and oversight, ensuring that engagement, support and liaison services are suitably provided and respond to the different needs of the sponsored students.

The appointee will be expected to establish and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with multiple stakeholders within the USP community as well as with diverse external stakeholders to ensure meaningful services and support are provided to the sponsored students. 


The Person we Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

• An undergraduate degree and postgraduate qualification in a relevant area such as management and public administration, international relations or related discipline; 

• 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a tertiary institution or comparable multi-cultural public sector with proven management expertise;

• Extensive experience in partnership engagement and multi-stakeholder management;

• Experience working with regional organisations and development partners

• Experience in providing support and service to regional students with diverse cultural backgrounds;

• Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and competing reporting deadlines;

• Leadership skills and ability to empower teams;

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed on funding availability.

Salary Range

FJ $53,255 to $65,040 per annum
