The Opportunity

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is seeking a highly motivated Accountant to lead the financial management of our Solomon Islands Campus and provide oversight of financial operations across other USP Centres in Solomon Islands. This is a Senior role, ensuring compliance, transparency, and accountability in all campus financial activities. 

Specific Duties

Specific duties may include:

  • manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts Receivables (AR), accounts payable (AP), payroll, asset management, and reconciliations.
  • prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Campus Director
  • Oversee cash handling, banking and expenditure monitoring, ensuring compliance with USP policies and statutory requirements.
  • Provide financial oversight and support to USP Centres, supervising Finance Officers and consolidating reports.
  • Support student financial services, including fee collection, instalment arrangements, and debt management. 
  • Ensure audit readiness and implement recommendations to strengthen financial controls.



The Person we Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or commerce; professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial management, with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of AR, AP, Payroll and reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.

Salary Range

  • SBD 242, 624 to SBD 296, 525 per annum
