The Opportunity

This position is responsible for the operations of the Ha‘apai Centre and coordination of all academic and administrative services of the Centre. The successful applicant will work with Staff/Academic staff at the main Campus in Tongatapu and attend to student and stakeholder requirements. The Coordinator will ensure the proper management of staff and resources at the Centre.

The Coordinator will oversee the smooth running of the center and provide an enabling environment for students to pursue their studies through online and blended mode. The job involves interacting with students and their parents/guardians as well as other university employees and the wider community. The position will organize and conduct awareness to reach clients and respond to inquiries from students, potential enrollees, and faculty using all available resources to market the USP programs. The position will assist in planning and scheduling course offerings. The position is also responsible for planning and preparing budgets necessary for the successful implementation of programs at the center and participating schools.

The Coordinator will be required to have knowledge of University Policies and Procedures and to provide quality and effective communication with USP management, students and stakeholders. The position holder will be required to administer the appropriate requisitions for the Center. This involves ordering of appropriate stationery and making sure that proper authorization is obtained from the Campus Director for procuring supplies, including for the maintenance of premises.

Specific Duties

Specific duties may include:

  • Oversee daily program and operations and act as liaison with University authorities, students and community stakeholders;
  • Ensure the proper delivery of academic programs;
  • Undertake the proper management of University facilities and assets;
  • Manage staff at the Centre;
  • Ensure sound management of the center’s financial resources;
  • Coordinate outreach and marketing activities;
  • Enrolment: Admission and registration
  • Assessment; Tests, Exams, Results, Assignments. 

The Person we Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of a diploma and two (2) years subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of a post-trades certificate or advanced certificate and five (5) years of relevant experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. 

Experience

It is essential that the appointee has:

  • demonstrated human resource management experience and good supervisory and interpersonal skills;
  • some experience in financial management, including the preparation of budgets and monitoring of expenses and reporting;
  • experience in customer service. 

Skills

It is essential that the appointee has:

  • strong coordination and organizational skills;
  • ability to manage multiple activities within tight deadlines;
  • relevant experience or combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • good communication skills
  • good English written and oral communication skills;
  • competence in the use of various computer packages, especially MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • customer service orientation;
  • effective interpersonal skills;
  • effective marketing skills;
  • planning capabilities.

The position is available for a term of term of three (3) years and may be renewed by mutual agreement, subject to successful performance outcome. 

Salary Range

  • TOP$ $26,615 - TOP$33,014 per annum
