The Opportunity
The Counselling Psychologist will report to the Group Manager Campus Life and will play a key strategic role in providing clients (students and staff) with counselling support and tools to help clients meet their educational, vocational and life goals. The appointee will provide counselling services for students and staff from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, age, gender, physical and cognitive ability, spirituality and sexual orientation. This position will undertake additional roles as consultant, programme planner, workshop facilitator, trainer and clinical supervisor of other full and part-time staff in the Counselling Centre.
Specific Duties
The Counselling Psychologist will be responsible for providing counselling to students and staff dealing with academic, personal, emotional and mental health concerns. The incumbent will work with career, technical, and transfer program students to support them in their personal development and assist them with specific strategies to strengthen their potential for success.
In addition, the Counselling Psychologist will facilitate workshops targeted to address relevant personal and academic counselling issues for students and staff. The incumbent will provide external professional and personal support to staff and students in situations involving hospitalization, court cases, community conflicts and imprisonment as needed, and will also be required to identify training programs available for Counsellors and assist in coordinating the same.
As part of the work, the Counselling Psychologist will collaborate and liaise with resources/agencies with similar professional interests and challenges who can provide backup services for referrals, funding and technical support where necessary, and provide knowledge and employ skills to USP staff and students across the region in areas of concern through consultation, brochures, referrals to other appropriate support services.
Furthermore, the Counselling Psychologist will coordinate and provide psychological and counselling support for staff providing related services on other USP campuses, and establish a confidential online counselling service that can reach staff and students in all USP campuses, through a focus on relationship building and evidence, develop an intimate understanding of client requirements within a cross-cultural and challenging complex environment.

The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A degree and postgraduate qualifications in counselling, psychology or social work with demonstrated relevant work experience;
- Four (4) years of relevant experience and management expertise;
- Training and experience in career counselling and development would be an advantage;
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
- Be a registered psychologist, professional counsellor or social worker with all appropriate professional accreditations or will have made significant progress towards professional accreditations;
- Successful experience delivering counselling services in a higher education environment is highly desirable.

Salary Range
- FJD 61,627.79 – FJD 75,265.67 per annum.
