The University of the South Pacific (USP) is seeking 2 dynamic and results driven Project Partners to join the Strategic Projects and Initiatives Unit (SPIU) within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this role, you will work closely with the Director to lead and support key change projects that will transform the University and enhance the student experience.
The Opportunity
The appointee will report to the Director Strategic Projects and Initiatives and will be required to manage the planning, organizing, and coordinating of project resources to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of diverse projects that align with USP’s strategic initiatives.
Located at USP’s Laucala Campus, this role will play a crucial role in ensuring that all project plans developed within the COO’s Portfolio and submitted by other sections/campuses of the University meet the standard requirements for documentation, budget and resourcing, and approval processes. The Key Responsibilities include:
- Project Management: Oversee the development, planning, and execution of projects within the COO’s portfolio, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders ensure successful project execution.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify project risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring project success.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the tracking of progress and evaluate project outcomes, ensuring alignment with overall strategic objectives.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports on project status, ensuring transparency and alignment with the University’s leadership team.
The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and Post Graduate qualification in Project Management, Business Administration or a relevant field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in project management or partnership development, preferably in a tertiary institution (academic or vocational) or comparable multi-cultural public sector.
- Decisive with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead project teams to deliver project plans within very tight timelines
- Ability to negotiate and work collaboratively with diverse teams
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Asana, Microsoft Project)
- Strong interpersonal, communication and reporting skills
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the Pacific context. Experience and appreciation of working with culturally diverse and regional stakeholders will be an advantage.

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed based on performance and funding availability.
Salary Range
FJ $53,255 to FJ $65,040 per annum
