The Opportunity
The University of the South Pacific (USP) is seeking a Coordinator, Economics and Official Statistics to join Pacific TAFE, Laucala Campus. Under the direction of the Head of the College of Foundation Studies, the Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the Preliminary and Foundation Economics and Official Statistics courses under the College of Foundation Studies. The coordinator is also responsible for the preparation and delivery of the Economics and Official Statistics courses across the USP campuses, and for the management of teaching staff, operational logistics and resources required and for maintaining the quality of the courses in the programmes.
The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of Moodle and other ICT tools used in higher education, experience with diverse modes of delivery, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
The appointee will be responsible for:
- All the Preliminary and Foundation Economics and Official Statistics courses, including the revision of content of these courses.
- Teaching, creating authentic and relevant assessments with marking rubrics to ensure achievement of both course and programme learning outcomes, including providing academic leadership to the teaching team.
- Working closely with the Head of College to achieve the College annual plan and Pacific TAFE strategic plan.
- The activities required within the College and is accountable to the Director through the Head of College.
The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree and postgraduate qualifications in Official Statistics, Economics or in relevant discipline; and
- Four (4) years of relevant teaching experience in a multimodal learning institution and management expertise;
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills directly relevant to Economics & Official Statistics;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proven ICT skills and experience;
- Be a collaborative team player with a positive and professional attitude;
- Must have very good oral and written English language skills;
- Work experience in distance and flexible learning would be desirable.

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range
- FJ $52,755.97 to FJ $ 68,194.32 per annum.
