The Opportunity
The University of the South Pacific (USP) is seeking a Facilitator in Physics and Information Systems to join our Laucala Campus. Under the direction of the Head of the College of Foundation Studies, the Facilitator will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the Physics and Information Systems program. Specifically, the role includes teaching preliminary and foundation physics and information systems courses, assisting in the preparation and delivery of these courses, help in the quick turnaround time for assessment, feedback and efficient monitoring of “at-risk” students and contributing to Pacific TAFE’s national and international accreditation efforts.
The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of Moodle and other ICT tools used in higher education, experience with diverse modes of delivery, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
The appointee will be responsible to:
- Facilitate and teach physics and information systems courses, including resource development, class facilitation, intervention, and remedial work, and fostering the development of relevant skills and attributes.
- Prepare assessments, provide constructive feedback, and evaluate their impact on student learning.
- Undertake administrative duties, including participation in marketing activities and program/course administration.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality assurance requirements, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for programs and courses, and support program accreditation/re-accreditation in line with regional and international standards.
- Participate in community outreach activities and support the overall success of the program.
The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Completed Degree in Physics and Information Systems, including at the postgraduate level and/or have equivalent qualifications with 5 years relevant teaching experiences;
- Proficiency in information and communication technologies (ICT);
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Be a collaborative team player with a positive and professional attitude;
- An understanding of contemporary teaching and learning approaches or pedagogies would be desirable;
- Experience in flexible or blended teaching and learning methods would be desirable; and
- Must be a citizen of a USP member country, with preference given to those residing in the Fiji Islands.

The position is available for three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range
- FJ $34,546.23 to FJ $40,858.60 per annum
