The Opportunity
The University of the South Pacific (USP) is seeking suitable application for the position of Facilitator in Mathematics and Physics to be based at Tonga Campus. Under the direction of the Head of the College of Foundation Studies, the Facilitator will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the Mathematics and Physics program. Specifically, the role includes teaching of Preliminary and Foundation Mathematics and Physics courses, assisting in the preparation and delivery of these courses, help in the quick turnaround time for assessment, feedback and efficient monitoring of “at-risk” students and contributing to Pacific TAFE’s national and international accreditation efforts.
The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of Moodle and other ICT tools used in higher education, experience with diverse modes of delivery, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Specific Duties
The appointee will be responsible to:
Facilitate and teach Mathematics and Physics courses, including resource development, class facilitation, intervention, and remedial work, and fostering the development of relevant skills and attributes.- Prepare assessments, provide constructive feedback, and evaluate their impact on student learning.
- Undertake administrative duties, including participation in marketing activities and program/course administration.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality assurance requirements, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for programs and courses, and support program accreditation/re-accreditation in line with regional and international standards.
- Participate in community outreach activities and support the overall success of the program.

The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Completed Degree in Mathematics and Physics with 5 years relevant teaching experience;
- Proficiency in information and communication technologies (ICT);
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Be a collaborative team player with a positive and professional attitude;
- An understanding of contemporary teaching and learning approaches or pedagogies would be desirable;
- Experience in flexible or blended teaching and learning methods would be desirable; and
- Must be a citizen of a USP member country, with preference given to those residing in Tonga as the position will be based at Tonga Campus.

The position is available for a term of three (3) years and may be renewed by mutual agreement, subject to successful performance outcome.
Salary Range
- TOP $45,074 – TOP $53,310 per annum
