The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available within the Finance Section at The University of the South Pacific for a Vibrant Finance Assistant. The Finance Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining financial stability and ensuring efficient operations within the Management Accounting Section. The successful candidate will be responsible to deal with the University Campuses throughout the South Pacific region to ensure that their monthly financial returns are received and recorded in the University’s ledgers on a timely and accurate basis. The incumbent is required to have knowledge of the region as he/she will be closely working with USP’s Regional campus Finance Officer / Accountant in terms of reporting their financials in University ledger. The incumbent must be a team player, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision. He / She is required to liaise with various sections / departments of the USP, willing to work extra hours in order to meet strict deadlines. The appointee will process non-cash payments, fees and charges, relieve other finance roles within the Section and submit all data and reports per Management requirements. This is a unique opportunity to be able to work in a complex operating environment across 12 countries.

The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A Degree in Accounting with Good GPA; or
- Diploma in Accounting with two (2) years of subsequent relevant work experience; or
- Post-trades certificate or advanced certificate and five (5) years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; work in a flexible team environment;
- Good level of IT literacy, familiarity with database, MS Word and MS Excel, and other accounting software (MYOB);
- Good analytical skills in terms of data collection and interpretation;
- Good problem solving and Teamwork approach;
- Concern for thoroughness, accuracy and integrity;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, managing multiple activities while working under minimum supervision.
Preference will be given to applicants:
- A member of accounting professional body such as CPA or FIA or working towards membership and accreditation;
- At least two (2) years’ work experience in relevant field.

Salary Range
- FJ $23, 799 to FJ $30,051 per annum
