The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a pivotal leader to join the University of the South Pacific (USP) and steer the University’s strategic direction through robust data planning, business intelligence, and institutional analytics. The Director Strategy, Planning and Business Intelligence (SPBI) ensures the effective integration of data-driven insights into strategic and operational decisions, supporting the University’s mission of continuous improvement, innovation, and alignment with its strategic priorities.
The appointee is expected to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive institutional data strategy and oversee the collection, analysis and dissemination of institutional data to support strategic planning, decision-making, and operational excellence.
The Director SPBI will serve as the primary institutional expert on data planning, analytics, and business intelligence, and work closely with academic, administrative, and external partners to fostering data-driven decision-making across departments and units, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- An undergraduate degree and postgraduate qualification in a relevant field such as Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Strategic Management, Information Systems;
- 10 years of relevant management experience including extensive experience in institutional data planning, business intelligence, and strategic performance management, preferably within a higher education/tertiary context.
- Expertise in data analytics, business intelligence platforms, and data visualization tools.
- Strong strategic thinking, data interpretation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive institutional change through data-informed initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex data insights and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with predictive analytics, risk modeling, and benchmarking in a complex organizational environment, preferably in a higher education context.
Remuneration
The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: FJ $112,937 to FJ $138,353 per annum
