The Opportunity

The School
The successful candidate will be based in the School of Pacific Arts, Communication and Education (SPACE) which houses the disciplines of Literature, Academic English, Pacific Studies, Linguistics, Education and Journalism. SPACE also offers programmes in the vernacular languages of the Pacific and is host to the Confucius Institute and the Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies. SPACE encourages collegiality and is invested in the cultivation of a dynamic scholarly community. It is one of the more research-focused schools in the university, a trend SPACE invites the successful applicant to continue.
The Education Discipline is the leading pre-service and in-service teacher education institution of excellence within the Pacific region. It upholds quality learning and teaching, and provides quality educational services as well as professional development programs.
The appointee is expected to contribute to teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate education courses and programs at the discipline of education and university-wide. The AL/L will. provide students with the best teaching and learning support, direction and support for research and thesis projects. The Assistant Lecturer/ Lecturer is expected to teach courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, supervise research students, conduct consultancies on Educational issues in the Pacific region and contribute to outreach and marketing activities for the discipline and school.
The position will be based at Kiribati Campus.

The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
For the appointment at Assistant Lecturer Level;
- A Masters or PhD in Education with significant tertiary teaching experience;
- An established record of successful teaching and course development at tertiary and or secondary level
- Citizenship of a USP member country
For the appointment at Lecturer Level;
- A PhD in Education with significant tertiary teaching experience and at least one ranked publication;
- An established record of successful teaching, course development and postgraduate research supervision; and
- Research interest in Education relevant to the South Pacific
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. A confident, competent and articulate person;
- Proven record of successful teaching and course development at school and tertiary level;
- Relevant teaching experience in Education and supervision of thesis students;
- Knowledge and experience in teacher education, distance education, IT integration and good research publication record;
- A team player, self-motivated individual committed to the organization and has working knowledge of the South Pacific region.

The position is available for a term of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range
- Assistant Lecturer: AUD55,903 to 67,083 per annum
- Lecturer: AUD71,040 to 93,473 per annum;
