The Opportunity

The School
The successful candidate will be based in the School of Pacific Arts, Communication and Education (SPACE) which houses the disciplines of Literature, Academic English, Pacific Studies, Linguistics, Education and Journalism. SPACE also offers programmes in the vernacular languages of the Pacific and is host to the Confucius Institute and the Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies. SPACE encourages collegiality and is invested in the cultivation of a dynamic scholarly community. It is one of the more research-focused schools in the university, a trend SPACE invites the successful applicant to continue.
The appointee will be expected to: provide academic teaching support and make contributions to the teaching effort of the University, as well as to carry out activities to develop his/her scholarly research and professional expertise relevant to the discipline. UU204 is a compulsory 200-level course at USP with an average of about 1,300 students each semester. This position assists the Programme/Course Coordinator by providing teaching support, including the preparation and delivery of tutorials and the marking of assignments.
The position will be based at Laucala Campus.

The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- For appointment at Band 1: Completed four years of tertiary study, including at the postgraduate level in the Humanities, Social Science or relevant discipline, and/or have equivalent qualifications and/or professional experience.
- Professional experience may include teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contribution, and/or contributions to technical achievement.
- For appointment at Band 2: A Master’s degree in Humanities, Social Science or relevant discipline;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. A confident, competent and articulate person.
- Self-starter
- Team player who can work in collaboration and compatibly with a large number of staff and students.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
- Ability to work independent in a demanding environment

The position is available for a term of 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range
- FJ$30,090 to FJ$36,576 per annum
- FJ$37,855 to FJ$41,971 per annum
