The Opportunity

The Department of Commercial Operations, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer is a self-operating funding section of the University, providing essential support services across its 13 members countries. The key business units under its umbrella include the Book Centre, Fitness Centre, Print and Catering facilities. These units support the University’s strategic plan initiatives, focusing on income generation through intelligent resource use and strengthening partnerships with students. The department aims to create a holistic student experience that empowers graduates to contribute to building cohesive, resilient, and sustainable societies. Additionally, it strengthens student support services to help students achieve their personal, professional and academic potential, and promotes student extracurricular activities, welfare, and wellbeing through its gym and other sporting facilities.

The Customer Services Officer is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by welcoming members, managing membership enquiries and registrations, processing payments, scheduling bookings, maintaining accurate records, and supporting daily reception operations. The role ensures a positive member experience while assisting with administrative duties and promoting the fitness center’s programs and services.

The appointee will be in a customer service role and will provide professional and effective service reception, process Fitness Centre membership forms using facility software system, handle Point of Sale, and will be responsible for daily inventory and daily reconciliation of sales and stock.

Specific Duties

Within the facility, a client service officer is expected to:

  • Demonstrate ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate customer services orientation with very good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts or late evening shift hours.
  • Has excellent punctuality and timekeeping record.
  • Logging of incidents and complaints.
  • Experience and competency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • An interest in sports and recreational activities is desirable.

The Person we Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • Completion of a diploma level qualification with one (1) year of relevant work-related experience; or
  • Certificate level qualification with three (3) years post-certificate relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of a post-trade certificate or advanced certificate and five (5) years of relevant experience and where required be a licensed professional; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.

Must be a citizen of one of the USP member countries.

The position is available for a term of three (3) years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range

FJ$26,029.68 to FJ$34,787.23 per annum.
